The candidate from India's governing Congress party, former finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, has been declared the winner in the country's presidential elections.
According to election officials, the 76 years old received more than twice as many votes as his rival in last Thursday's balloting by national and state legislators.
His rival, Purno Agitok Sangma, conceded defeat before the counting was complete on Sunday, and congratulated Mukherjee. Mukherjee will be sworn in on Wednesday. He has served previously as foreign minister, defense minister and finance minister.
