US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert Gates have met their Australian counterparts, Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and Defense Minister Stephen Smith ahead of high level joint ministerial talks.
The war in Afghanistan and regional security were among the topics to be discussed at the 25th annual Australia-United States Ministerial talks in Melbourne on Monday.
Clinton's two-day visit to Australia is the last leg of her 10-day tour of the Asia-Pacific, which has taken her to Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua new Guinea and New Zealand. She is due to leave Australia later on Monday.
